Sweep
The short version. Sweep has no accounts and no login. We never ask for your name, your email, or anything else that identifies you. What we do collect is anonymous information about how the game is played, so we can tell which levels are too hard and which crashes need fixing, plus any feedback note you choose to send us. The game shows ads, served by Unity and Google; the ad partners use your device's advertising ID, and where the law requires it we ask for your consent first.
Gameplay analytics. The game records events as you play — starting a level, finishing one, digging a cell, running out of hearts, opening a screen. Each event carries information about the game state, such as which level you were on, how many hearts you had left, and how long the board took. Alongside these we record six properties describing your progress: which zone you have reached, your highest level, how many dives you have taken, your hearts tier, a save-file marker, and whether the app is a development or release build.
None of this describes you. It describes the state of a game.
Crash and performance diagnostics. If the app crashes or misbehaves, we receive a crash report containing the error, the stack trace, and basic device information such as your device model and operating system version.
A device-generated identifier. Google's analytics tools assign your app installation a random identifier, the Firebase app-instance ID. It is created on your device, is specific to this app, and is not linked to your Google account, your phone number, or any identifier used by other apps.
Advertising. Sweep shows ads: a short video you can choose to watch for an extra life or more hints, and an occasional full-screen ad between levels. They are served through Unity's LevelPlay mediation by Unity Ads and Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, and — if you allow it — to personalise them, the ad partners receive your device's advertising ID (a resettable identifier Android provides for advertising) and identifiers of their own, basic device information such as model, operating system and language, a coarse location inferred from your IP address, how you interact with the ads, and diagnostic information about how the ads load and play. The advertising ID is also available to Google Analytics for Firebase, for measuring ad performance.
Feedback you send us. Send feedback in Settings (the gear on the home screen; in earlier versions, the speech-bubble button) opens a box where you can write us a note. Nothing is sent unless you press SEND. A note carries what you typed (up to 1,000 characters) and, so we can make sense of it, the time it arrived, the level and world you were on, the game's version, and your phone's model and operating system. It carries no identifier: we cannot tell whether two notes came from the same person, and we cannot reply. Please do not include your name, email or other personal details in a note; if you do, we will receive them.
Your consent. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the game asks for your consent before any ad partner starts, using Google's consent form. You can change your answer at any time from Privacy choices in Settings (in earlier versions, at the bottom of the feedback card). Whatever you choose, the game works the same; ads may simply be less relevant.
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, files, calendar, microphone or camera input, or precise location. We do not assign you a user ID — this was a deliberate choice, so there is no identifier of ours that could follow you. The one exception is anything you type into a feedback note yourself.
The game has no in-app purchases, so no payment data exists. If we add them, we will update this page and its effective date before that change reaches you.
We use Google Firebase (Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics, and the Firebase Realtime Database, where feedback notes are stored) to collect and process the information above. Google processes it on our behalf and its own privacy policy applies to that processing: policies.google.com/privacy
Firebase infers a coarse, country-level location from the IP address of the connection. We do not receive or store your IP address ourselves, and we do not collect precise location.
Unity (Unity LevelPlay and Unity Ads) serves the ads and processes the advertising data described above as an independent controller; its privacy policy applies: unity.com/legal/game-player-and-app-user-privacy-policy
Google (AdMob) also serves ads through LevelPlay and processes the advertising data described above as an independent controller; how Google uses it is set out at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Google also provides the consent form (the User Messaging Platform), which stores your choice on your device and passes it to the ad partners.
We do not sell your information for money. Where your consent or local law allows it, the ad partners may use the advertising ID to personalise ads, which some laws treat as "sharing"; you can turn that off as described below. We share nothing with anyone else.
Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics settings, currently the default retention period, after which it is deleted automatically. Crash reports are retained for as long as they are useful for fixing the problem they describe. Feedback notes are kept for as long as they are useful for improving the game, and are then deleted.
Because we hold no account for you, there is nothing to sign into and nothing to delete on our side. Uninstalling the app removes the app-instance ID, which severs the link between this installation and any data already collected. Reinstalling produces a new, unrelated identifier.
Feedback notes. If you sent a note and want it deleted, email us what it said and roughly when you sent it, and we will find and delete it.
Ads. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android's settings (Privacy › Ads, or Google › Ads, depending on the phone); with it deleted, ads are not personalised. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you can also change your consent at any time under Privacy choices in Settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or erase personal data held about you. Since we hold no information that identifies you, we are usually unable to locate data belonging to a particular person — but if you contact us at the address below we will help as far as we are able.
Sweep is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.
If the game starts collecting something new, we will update this page and change the effective date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's store listing.
